Jackson State Wesley: Meet Our Advisor

We are empowering students to build faith that transforms communities.

Reverend Maxine Bolden

Wesley Advisor

Director and Campus Minister, Wesley Foundation

Pastor Bolden's goal in ministry is to "move people from religion to relationship with Christ." As the Campus Minister that means helping students to move from just "following the rules (of church)" to living out the loving grace of a relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. How do we get there? Through discipleship, prayer, Bible study, praise, worship, fellowship,  and service to others.

Pastor Bolden is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, has served two churches as senior pastor, and served as a Veterans Affairs  chaplain resident. She is also a spiritual director and serves the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church in various leadership roles.

Pastor Bolden earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tougaloo College in Jackson MS, and a Master of Divinity at Gammon Theological Seminary/ITC in Atlanta GA.

Pastor Maxine Bolden is married to Michael, her husband and best friend, of over 28 years. They met thirty years ago at Tougaloo College. She is a mother, friend, mentor and pastor to their two adult children and a their daughter-in-law. Her spacetime is spent reading, writing, and decorating, as well as hanging with Tobby and Bella, the family dogs and their two foster dogs, Ebony and Ivory.

As a Romans 8:28 woman, Pastor Bolden believes that whether things are good or bad, because "we know that God is working all things together for our good," it's ALL GOOD!!! God is at work on our behalf! Coe out and meet her and be encouraged.
